Ten Signs That Your Intuition May Be Blocked

Intuition is like a GPS for the soul, a north star that guides you through life, helps you build wonderful relationships, and gives you confidence in your own decisions.
Sometimes, I notice that my intuition eludes me. It used to be worse — I was living life entirely blocked from my intuition. But even now, after working on living “from the neck down” for years, I inadvertently offend someone, feel blindsided by the outcome of events, or I wrestle with regret after doing or saying something that feels out of alignment for me.
A lot like a muscle in the body, intuition will atrophy if it’s not regularly put to use. Blocked intuition can lead to difficulty trusting ourselves, feeling stuck or stagnant, a lack of fulfillment or meaning in our lives, difficulty in relationships, and even chronic stress or anxiety.
Is your intuition blocked? Here are 10 ways to tell.
1. You feel stagnant or confused.
If you feel confused often when making decisions, it’s a sign that you’re not listening to your intuition. When you and your intuition are communicating regularly, you’ll find that a combination of your inner knowing and outer synchronicities team up. Things in your life start to make sense, and you may even start to think more positively about your situation and alternatives. Tuning into your inner knowing can help you make the aligned decision that steers you towards the highest good for all.
2. You’re rigidly following a plan.
Going with the flow is something my mom is really good at. She takes the temperature of the room and is willing to be flexible, changing her plan to accommodate the people she cares about. My partner is similarly tapped into his intuition, always checking the literal weather to make sure our family enjoys what we’re doing and willing to reschedule a picnic if it’s raining. Flexibility means changing your plans based on the guidance you’re getting, wherever it’s coming from. When you blindly follow a calendar or to-do list, you might get a lot done — but it’s all the wrong things. Don’t be a complete flake, but pay attention to the signs that tell you it’s time to cancel a commitment.
